Heading Home Happy

Peace out Texas it was lovely

Houston was a blast! I can’t believe how nice it is down here, and I can’t wait to come back here for the next show.My boss and coworker took me to all the best spots. We did pretty great at the show and I got to know the team a bit better. Very excited about this job and being part of the canon team. Overall it was a great couple of days . If you find yourself headed down here remember SHORTS ARE A MUST.

Blogging

Hey people, thanks for checking in, glad the new job is working out. I’m having a great time working with canon. I’m getting to see a lot more of the country and it’s incredible. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to be part of the canon North American rep team. I’m meeting some great folks and I find myself making pictures again! DIGITAL ONES! Can’t wait to start posting more regularly now that I’m shooting for pleasure a bit more. Also I celebrated my birthday last week while on the road for work. I was in Boston at hunts but at least I got to have dinner with my little sister, and I got to meet her roommates which was pretty cool. Anyway I’m 23 now and it’s good to be back.

Canon!!!

This week I’ll be heading to canon headquarters to train with my new colleagues on some exciting stuff!

Wish me luck.

I have a couple more shifts at the co-op and then I’ll be traveling alot.

Hopefully this new job will get me shooting a bit more.

developing update

Hey its Chad, I have been so busy with non photo related work and life that I have barely had time to make pictures these days. I did finally start up the JOBO this past week and processed a few rolls p3200. I was very pleased with the results of kodak’s new formula. Tmax 3200 has very impressive tonal, and grain qualities. The shots are sharp and I think the contrast is pretty good, even in frames where I underexposed a little. I developed the p3200 alongside a roll of ilford 3200 using ilfosol 3 for around 10 mins at 20 degrees Celsius. Hop over to the front page and check out my most recently processed black and white shots. Some are even a little spooky.

Shooting Portraits With an Unfamiliar Camera

Recently I had the opportunity to Shoot a portrait set with the new Sony a9 and 85mm g-master lens. I picked it up and was immediately surprised with how solid it felt. It made a much better first impression than the a7. And I found the button layout more intuitive. Although I did get lost in the setting menu at first I figured it out within an hour and had it dialed in right where I wanted. It feels like a powerful tool and almost as complex as a ncomputer. I had to see the pictures to really believe it.

The Colors on the camera are very different from what I am accustomed too but with a little bit of doctoring in lightroom  the pictures looked pretty cool in my opinion. I was stunned by the lowlight capabilities of the camera as I almost didn't have to use a flash. The second photo was shot in crop mode at 20000 ISO. That is a number I have not been able to shoot before and although the shots are a little noisy I don't think It is that bad. I have to try pushing some film up to 20000 and see what I get. I went into the set unsure of my feeling about the camera but I have to say I came out smiling in the end. I genuinely liked this latest camera from Sony and I greatly anticipate trying out the new a7r III this coming winter.

Updates!

As it gets colder and closer to winter I find myself becoming more driven to shoot outside! As crazy as it sounds I've been shooting outside almost every night. I love the new people I've been shooting with and I think I'm getting more comfortable shooting people.  Learning a lot watching my friends shoot. Check em out
